Celebrating Our People: Hester Alejandro and Lisa-Marie Hodge

April 9, 2026

At St. Thomas FCU, we talk a lot about helping our members build stronger financial futures. But we’re just as proud of the work we do to help our own team members grow professionally, personally and in our community. We’re excited to spotlight two St. Thomas FCU team members for recent achievements worth celebrating.

Hester Alejandro, Accountant: WGU Accounting Fundamentals Certificate

Hester Alejandro, one of our staff accountants, recently earned her WGU Accounting Fundamentals Certificate. She finished ahead of schedule, wrapping up the program in under six months!

For Hester, the journey started with a nudge from a colleague. Sinada Hendrickson, our business development manager, was the first to tell her about Western Governors University’s program and encouraged her to go for it. Hester said that vote of confidence was what gave her the push she needed to take the first step.

“Her belief in my potential was instrumental in helping me take that first step,” Hester shared.

From there, Hester credits the encouragement of St. Thomas FCU’s leadership for helping her stay focused and confident throughout the process. This accomplishment reflects the dedication, drive and knowledge that Hester brings to serving our members every day.

Lisa-Marie Hodge Smith, Administrative Support Officer: 2026 Inclusiv Crashers Cohort

Lisa-Marie Hodge Smith has been selected as one of the members of the first 2026 Inclusiv Crashers Cohort, a new national program that brings together up-and-coming credit union professionals who are passionate about making financial services more accessible for everyone.

Credit unions exist to help people, especially people who haven’t always been well-served by big banks. Organizations like Inclusiv work to help credit unions fulfill that mission. The Crashers program is their way of investing in the next generation of leaders who will continue that work, and Lisa-Marie is one of them.

Over the next several months, she’ll work alongside credit union professionals from across the country, developing strategies for how credit unions can better reach and serve communities like ours. Lisa-Marie’s selection for this program speaks to the values she embodies in her role here at St. Thomas FCU. We’re excited to watch her and her fellow Crashers make their mark!

Growing Together

Hester and Lisa-Marie are exactly the kind of dedicated, caring individuals we want on our team serving our members. At St. Thomas FCU, we’re committed to giving our staff the encouragement and opportunities they need to grow, so they can better serve you and our community.
